An attractively-coloured deep, dark beer. The characteristic sweet, rich flavour of roast malt and molasses is well balanced with the pronounced hop flavour and aroma of classic English Pilgrim hops.

Also known as Fat Cat Stout.

Replaced by Fat Cat Milk Stout in 2018.

Bottle at Pat’s birthday chriso tasting, London. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a bubbly head. Subtle roasted malt aroma with hints of dirt and cocoa. Lightly sweet flavor with some dry cocoa and light earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, roasty finish with faint, toasty bread. OK.

Cask at Paisley Beer Festival 2008 ... brown red ... thin malt nose ... thin body but loads of flavour ... rich toasted malts ... some chocolate and coffee character.

Cask Conditioned at the Wenlock Arms, 30/1/09. Near black colour with a moderate, off-white head. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate. The flavour had a sweet edge, with more chocolate, coffee and a some fruit. Enjoyable.
