For over seven decades, a convenience store called the Sunnyside Superette sat at the corner of University Ave. and Second St. in Morgantown, West Virginia. If you attended WVU during the 1980s up through 2015, you already know this. The Sunnyside Superette was an institution in the eyes of most undergrads. It certainly was for Adrien and Ocelot creative director David Kammerdeiner and our longtime friend Travis Thompson. Four years ago, we first teamed up with Travis, Favio, and the other good folks at Dynasty Brewing to make a beer that commemorated those hallowed grounds. Today, we welcome back Superette.

Like 2023’s Superette, this iteration of the collaborative double IPA weighs in again 8.0%. We hopped it during the whirlpool with Mosaic Cryo and Citra, then laid down a hearty dry-hop of Riwaka, along with more Mosaic and more Citra. That high-octane fusion of PNW and NZ hops is giving red berry, stone fruit, and pineapple. The grist, meanwhile, is appropriately lush: pilsner malt, malted oats, flaked wheat, pale malt, and few bags of chit.

Pairs perfectly with potato wedges, pepperoni rolls, and chili dogs. Or raising a glass to Dynasty’s sixth anniversary.

Can. Poured a very vibrant yellow-orange color with a small white head. Aroma was big citrus, orange, tasty hops. Juicy. Flavor was pleasant oat and grain, with a tasty orange finish.

Wonderful upfront aroma from the riwaka. Really gets in your face in the best way possible. In your mouth, a little more caramel some booze--it shows a few cracks in the follow through. Hazy orange pour with decent head. Bittersweet finish. Tap at brewery.
