Our lightest beer, made from 100% malted barley. This blonde lager is what sailors really swam to shore for; it’s light, with very little bitterness and a slight malt finish.

Can from BevMo Santa Rosa. Bright golden, clear, small, tight head. Light grainy aroma, bread, crackers. Taste is more of the solid grain base, lemon zest, hoppy tang at the finish. Light and flavorful.

Can, courtesy of Salvi, many thanks! Pours slightly cloud pineapple with a big head. Aroma is lightly fruity, but mostly pale malts. Body is light, with a crisp carbonation and a decent but soft sweetness and bitterness behind. Well rounded, but a bit watery. Pineapple flavour. Dry watery palate. Refreshing and quite good.

12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 5/5/2017. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly drying from bitterness as well. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a delicious Helles. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful for the ABV. Nice clean pils malt showcase, with just enough earthy hops to balance. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Hawaiian pale lager loosely situated in the ’Münchener Helles’ style, from a can bought at De Caigny in Essen. Medium thick, lightly lacing, egg-white, moussy head on top of a warm yellowish golden coloured beer ’clouded’ with a haze of tiny yeast bits throughout. Aroma of sweetbread, breakfast cereals, damp cloth, field flowers (buttercups), freshly cut grass, white bread dough, green apple peel. Fairly neutral onset, no esters as expected from a lager, bit minerally, quickly shifting to malt sweetness, grainy and a tad bready, no metallic effects, softish carbo and smooth, even slightly creamy body; well-dosed floral hop bitterishness in the finish, soft and gentle with a grassy accent; malt sweetness prevails, though, as defines this particular classic lager style. In all: nothing unpleasant here, simple and straightforward but quenching and feeling ’genuine’, with a balance of malt sweetness and soft floral hoppiness that equals that of the classic Bavarian Münchener Helles examples.

355ml can. Slightly milky, yellow-ish, golden colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally husky, pale malty aroma, a touch of protein, a fruity touch of yellow stone fruit. Taste is minimally sweet, pale malty, slightly fruity, hints of yellow stone fruit, hints of husk and protein, a lemon dash. Simple, clean and focused - nice.
