500ml bottle. Dark reddish amber to brown colour with small quickly fading off-white head. Aroma has dried dark fruit, dark berries, raisin, caramel, some alcohol. Taste is sweet, dark fruity, slightly alcoholic. I miss notes referable to the funky yeast. Lacks complexity overall I suspect the candy sugar is accountable for.

500 ml bottle @ Patricks. Reddish amber body with a decent beige head. Aroma has caramel malt, dry fruit, berries, raisins and warming alcohol. Flavor is sweet malty, fruity, raisins, warming alcohol and hint of wood. Quite sweet, but feels balanced somehow. Full body. I can’t really decide if this beer is complex or not, but the taste crows for each mouthful.

Bottle @ home. I’ve had WAY too many mediocre Quads lately. Hope this sucker is a winner. Pours a hazy, reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Huge candy sugar/caramel aroma, moderate dark fruity, ultra sweet, a touch spicy aroma. Fairly high carbonation. Incredibly sweet to the point of cloying taste. Super rich candy sugar, toffee, plum, caramel, black cherry, dark grape/raisin flavor. Another disappointing (and cloying) Quad.

0.5l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. A quad from New Zealand? Interessting.. This one pours a nougat-red-brown body with a nice big and lasting off-white lacing head. A bit tart and almost sour on the aroma. Quite woody, lots of ripe red berries, raisins, some dog and it's also quite malty. Soft carbonation levels between a thick, oily and almost sticky mouthfeel. Flavors are light tart and almost on the edge of sour in this one. I would much rather classify this as a strange cousin of a oud bruin more than a quadruple. It's really woody and vinious this also, before it continues with some old red fruit-berries, oxidized sweet caramel and some alcohol twitches towards the quite dry finish. Nice enough, but as I mentioned, not a Belgian quad. 05.01.2012

Bottle. Brownish black beer with a fairly strong head. The aroma is malty and vinous, and the flavour is spiced, gingery and malty roasted. Overall a nice very strong malty and spiced Belgian style beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy dark amber with a creamy tan head. Lots of dark fruit in the aroma. And kandi. Flavor is very raisin/dark fruit with some yeast/spice and remnants of kandi. There’s a very slight suggestion of chocolate. It’s more than mildly bitter, and I’d say fairly dry. Glad to have tried this.

500ml bottle. Pours with a hazy chestnut to bronze hued body with a large off-white head. Good lace with some legs and fine retention. Very alcoholic on the nose, dark fruits, prunes, plums, some banana esters, brown sugar, very sweet, malty, bready, brown sugar, currants, lightly tart. Flavors of orange curacao, tart, cranberries, sweet, brown sugar. VERY messy. Vinous, metallic, earthy, raisins. Bad to be honest. Leather, dried fruit. Undrinkable. Light bubbles.

Medium pale brown head. Clear brown body with carbonation. Syrupy papery aroma with fruity notes. Surprisingly mellow aroma. Sweet-dryish fruity papery taste with grape notes. Fullish body. Hot, but otherwise smooth and mild, mouthfeel. Dryish fruity alcoholic aftertaste with papery dandelion notes. Weird, and consistently papery. Not their best. (0.5l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)
