Bottle from Meny, Grønland in Oslo, Norway. A lovely deep amber body with an off white head. At first the beer must have been too cold, becouse it smelled like soap and tasted just as horrible. I put it away but put my nose into it an hour later, then it had a roasted malt and light fruity aroma. The flavour where about the same, moderate roasty and some fruity notes.

Dark brown color, small beige head. Aroma has spiceness and fruity hoppyness but also vegetables (DMS?) when warms up. Light to medium-bodied. Light spiceyness, toasted malts, some Nøgne Ø yeastyness. Lingering harsh spiceyness in the aftertaste. Not very balanced, maybe would be better with higher gravity/ABV. Recipe has not changed a lot from last year, but this certainly is worse than a bottled version of 2010.

50 cl bottle @ home. Batch #704: bottled 03.10.2011, BBE 03.10.2013
Aroma has berries typical to danish ales. Also some roastiness, ash and peat. Tart and somewhat sour flavour has ash and peat with some berries. Dry and a bit leathery finish. A bit weird and not so good, kind of reminds me of Nøgne Ø Brun ̣– and that wasn’t good either.

500ml bottle from K-Citymarket Sello

Pours murky brown with a medium foamy head. Aroma has notes of spices, caramel malts and berries. Taste is quite malty and ashy with notes of spices. Light, spicy finish. A bit unbalanced and light bodied.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20111209) The beer poured dark brown and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had roasted malts and herbal hops. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, dark chocolate, nuts and bitternes. Aftertaste was roasty, nutty and bitter. Very good for such a mild brew.

50cl bottle, BBE 03.10.2013. Poured murky brown with a dirty white head. Aroma is ash, tobacco and figs. Ash also in flavor, along with some bready malt and sweeter caramel. Fruity hops coming nicely through towards finish. Strange brew, not as good as I had hoped.

Bottle. Had this on several occasions already, and it’s a beer I don’t really get. It looks quite nice, with its dense, two-finger, off-white to beige head and a semi-clear, dark amber body. Even lacings. But it’s the aroma that puzzles me. Sometimes I find it just roasted and hoppy, rather pleasant actually, sometimes, like today, it feels slighlty sewer-ish. Luckily the roasted aromas and lighlty citrusy hoppyness are more pronounced, but it’s still there. It’s a bit heavy on carbonation, but far from hard and unpleasant. Full-bodied, quite dry, yet not without residual sweetness. There’s roasted malts leaving coffee and some dark chocolate, and also a light orange zest and some bitterness. Fine finish with citrus peel-ish bitterness and roasted malts. Well, I’m not all pleased with this years Julesnadder, but it’s a quite nice beer anyway, and certainly the most interesting and tasteful supermarket strenght Christmas beer available in Norway, just like it has been since it was released the first time. 111202

A dark brown beer with a medium and beige head. Aroma is dark fruity and nutty, plums, some herbs and also some vegetables when beer is cold, but luckily that nuance is gone when temperature is higher. Taste is dark malty, even some roastiness, dark fruits, spicyness, ginger and juniper; complex taste. Quite light to drink, but it not bothers, nice carbonation. Interesting beer, especially taste is complex and unique.
