Pours a clear, deep coppery colour with a medium creamy off white head. Roasted malt and dark chocolate aroma. Nice smooth roasted malty chocolate taste. A nice porter.

Gravity dispense at the 1st Runnymede Beer Festival - 08/09/12. Very dark brown with a thin tan head. Dark roasted malts dominate the nose with coffee, licquorice and chocolate. Taste follows from the nose, nice roasted tones to this beer. Ligher end of medium bodied with minimal carbonation, quite wet.

Cask at The Hope, Carshalton. It pours deep ruby-brown, with a thick white head. The nose is smoke, plastic, roasted malt, caramel and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, liquorice, toast, charcoal, chocolate, coffee and leather, with a long dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A robust and flavoursome porter.

Cask. Deep brown colour with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is coffee, mild chocolate, nuts, ashes and mild roasted malts as well. Flavour is chocolate, nuts, coffee, ashes, some roasted malts, mild toffee and also some quite big bitterness in the finish. Wellbalanced and quite dry palate.

[Cask at The Retreat, Reading] Intriguing deep bronzey-brown colour with a moderate creamy head. Sweet coffee & cough mixture aroma. Very smooth chocolate flavour, with a big hit of roasted malt, and some leafy hops showing through. A lasting dry, earthy bitterness in the finish. Excellent stuff.

Cask (handpump) @ Nags Head, 5 Russell Street, Reading, Berkshire, England RG1 7XD.Clear medium to light dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt malt, coffee, light smoke - tobacco - chimney and licorice. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20100428]

Dark coloured body with a ruby shade. No head. Aromatic with choc-caramel malts. Roasted dark malts in flavour in the direction of cocoa. Very well balanced, not too sweet. Cask, half pint at Edgar Wallace, London 4 Oct 10.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Halloween Beer Festival, 2010. Pours ruby-brown with a beige, creamy head. Dark malt aroma with some caramel and mocha. Fairly sweet flavor, malty, with further notes of caramel, plus some plum and cherry. Has some coffee roast bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet, malty and with a nice mocha and dark fruit character. Solid.
