7th April 2010. Clear dark brown beer. Chocolate, malt and coffee on the nose. Light dry palate. Dark malt - some minerals. Light traces of chocolate and coffee. Finishes with some hops and some tangy fruit. Decent porter.

(Cask at Harp, Covent Garden, London, 21 May 2010) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread, dried fruit and a smooth coffee bitterness in a nicely balanced finish. Medium body, a touch of sweetness. A nice and well balanced porter.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Deep copper in colour with a brilliant ruby red glow and a scummy beige head; rich aroma of roasted nuts; the flavour has more roasted nuts and just a hint of chocolate; then some gentl hops lead into a creamy dry finish. Excellent.
