Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 19th March 2023. Deep sepia brown with pale tan foam and spot lacing. Roasty aroma with hints of chocolate. Sweet roast malt in-mouth with chocolate and a suggestion of dairy. A light finish of budget chocolate and floral notes. Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

7th Aug 2019, cask at the GBBF. Off-white head on a dark brown body. Decent coffee aroma with a vanilla twist in the flavour alongside the coffee, semi-sweet and a little 'thin' body wise for a Porter.

Cask at the Waggon & Horses, Stourbridge. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is yeasty cocoa and cola. Taste has cocoa and cola to start. Yeasty blackcurrant finish with a liquorice aftertaste.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at Maidenhead Beer Festival 27/7/2018. Deep brown with a slight, off-white, head. Toasty malts, some plain chocolate and touch of dark fruits, leafy hops and a fairly soft finish. Good.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Light milky coffee and malts aroma. Dark cola brown. Decent beige head. Light bitter. Matches the aroma, only with cream not milk. A spiuciness comes through into the finish. Medium bodied. Creamy. Soft carbonation. Long, if muted, finish. Enjoyable. Best summarised by my third use of the word ’creamy’.

Cask at The Lyric, Soho. I was inspired to drink this purely because of the fantastic picture on the pump clip - a beautiful image of a surly looking penguin leaning over and inserting its beak deeply into this very brew. The penguin appears thoughtful, analysing the complexity of the beer through its beak more deeply than even Deanso could through his nose. The scene is portrayed against a picturesque backdrop of sharp snowy arctic mountains and a deep blue icy cold sea. The beer itself is clear brown with a tan head. The aroma explodes with notes of chocolate, dull malt, light roast and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with very soft carbonation.

Oldham Beer Festival 2016. Very dark with a sweetened roasted malt aroma and taste, with the latter stated enough but not dominating its character.
