With its deep amber color, distinctive rich flavor and full body, Shiner Bock demonstrates the care of a handcrafted brewing process to bring forth a mellow taste free of the bitter aftertaste found in many micro, specialty and imported beers. Just think of it as Shiner smooth.

Pours a crystal clear bronze color with a beige head and great retention. Spotty lacing. Light caramel malt aroma. The taste follows the nose: Light and sweet caramel malt flavor with a short bock bite in the finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Not bitter. Similar profile to an Oktoberfest. Very clean, smooth and refreshing. Good beer.

On tap at this solid fish place in Grapevine. Pint glass. Just had to. Clear, copper, bubbling. Malty, softly sweet, borderline maple-y. Sticky, bittersweet, slightly industrial. Lingering menthol-like hops. Solid, harsh, cleansing carbonation. Sort of like a less iffy, richer Yuengling that still tastes okay when it warms. Sustainable.

355ml can from National Brewery Centre, Burton on Trent. Pours clear mahogany, fleeting bubbles atop that fail to form a head. Mild caramel aroma. Taste presents a confident caramel character, soft carbonation, moderately sweet. Fine overall.
