Small brown head. Opaque black body. Spicy perfumy chocolatey aroma with linoleum and cardamom notes. Dry-sweet cardamom and chocolate taste with spicy mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, dusty mouthfeel. Dry spicy papery cardamom afteraste with chocolatey earthy notes. Nice, but a bit spicy. (0.33l bottle at Schouskjelleren, Oslo.)

Shared 330ml bottle at Schouskjelleren. Beige layer at the top of a deep dark body added by ruby highlights. Dotted spots down the glass. Dark malty nose, lots of cocoa powder. Fine balanced taste profile of chocolate, cocoa, anise and herbal hops. Dry, dark bitter ending. Crisp in the mouth. Well bodied. Tasty (Oslo, 10.12.2012).

Pours pitch black with a large, tan head.Nose shows chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, liquorice and oats, alongside spicy phenols and higher alcohols.Very similar flavours; quite sweet at first before the roasted malt bitterness and soft alcohol make their presence felt. Lots more liquorice, roast and spicy Belgian notes. Seems a little brash though.Could use higher, creamier carbonation.

Bottled, thanks baggio! Black, small beige head. Rich licorice aroma. Full bodied with quite soft mouthfeel. Tobacco, leather and salt, followed by aniseed, chocolate and salmiak. Long really bitter finish. Surprisingly drinkable, rich and pleasant.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is mild fruity and solid hoppy. Solid roasted and dark malty. Sweet dark malty, caramelish and toasted dark malty finish.

Bottled. A very dark red-brown beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, soy sauce, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, and soy sauce, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Fruity, roasty nose with a whiff of smoke - quite some alcohol too. Solid body, heavy roast almost a little peaty, dark dried fruits and a solid malt bitterness. Somewhat rough. 140212

From a 330ml bottle on 12/2/2012. Pours close to black with a smallish head. The aroma is primarily chocolate and caramel. The flavour is dominated by bitter dark chocolate and roasty notes, but there’s definitely a good dose of Belgian yeast in the background. The sweetness is well balanced by the slightly sour, lingering bitterness. The body is quite thin. Yet another good brew from Murray’s, though there more impressive imperials to be had.

(bottle) Poured black with coffee coloured head. Aroma is intense and impressive with coffee, roastiness and smokey hints overlaid on the base of a stout. Full bodied, oily with lovely fine carbonation. The flavour is rich and intense - dark roast malt, molasses, coffee with a good long finish with with bitter notes both with hop and black coffee resemblance.
