Bottle 330ml.Clear dark black colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, sweet roasted and caramel, alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark sweet malt, chocolate, dry, late finish has licorice. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20110804]

Bottle at GBBF 2011, Day 3. Pours rich brown with a big, beige head. Mild roast aroma, hints of licorice. Medium sweet flavor, slightly tangy, moderately roasty, with edgy dark malts. Medium to full in body with soft to average carbonation. Mild warming finish, pleasant roasted malts, slight Belgian yeast, some dark sugar. A very good, well rounded beer.

Bottle @ GBBF, 2011. Pours black with a small creamy head and lacings. Chocolate, roast and caramel. Smooth and full bodied. Roasted and fruity dry end.

Bottled@GBBF2011. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, mild roasted malts as well as some slight coffee and toasted notes. Flavour is dark fruits, wood, liquorice, alcohol, some slight toasted notes as well as mild toffeeish notes.

Bottle from GBBF, 2011. Drank at home. Black pour with a tan head. Vanilla, chocolate and a little coffee aroma. Quite a vinous feel. Burnt sugar, rum raisin and dark fruit flavour. Smooth alcohol burn. Warm, sweet finish.

Bottle, 13C. Black with a coat of light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, plums, vanilla, alcohol, licorice, pine. Texture is a bit oily - surprisingly light. Remaining carbonation is slight and really nice: this has bottled well. Taste has cocoa, roasted bitterness, coffee, vanilla, white pepper, dark rum. Not very sweet at first - the roasted character is not aggressive, but is persistent and there all the way through. About half way through the glass the sweetness and alcohol start to creep up as it warms - I’d start cooler next time. The fruit in the nose doesn’t really show up much in the mouth. A little boozy at the end, along with the chocolate, roasted malt and some pine.
