Andrew "Boomer" Eykelenboom was a native of western Canada and a medic with the Canadian Armed Forces. On his last mission to Afghanistan in 2006, for which he volunteered, he was killed by a suicide bomber. Boomer was known to have an appreciation for good red ales, and this "Canadian Red Ale" is brewed in his honor. It is a smooth red ale, brewed with 5 different malts with Magnum and Perle hops.

Hazy red-amber color, with a giant compact head. The aroma is just a bit sourish, maybe something’s wrong here. Caramel flavor, with correct bitterness, and just a light metallic touch. Plain, maybe off, although purchased just one month ago.

Bottle 100cl. w. swing top @ [ Tasting by fiulijn ].Light unclear medium amber colour with a large to huge, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity - berry notes, light leather - wood, funky notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to light light heavy bitter with a average to long duration, wood - leather bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft and fizzy. [20110916]

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours dark amber with a white head. Aroma of nothing but dry caramel malts. Flavour is much the same, with some dry fruits thrown in there as well. Not one of Howe Sound's better brews.
