Cask@The Plough, Norwich. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, toffee and mild ashes in just about a perfect balance. Flavour is mild roasted notes, some coffee, caramel and mild wooden notes. Really pleasantly balanced. Bartender (the brewer, I think) said there is an 8 % version of this one in the plans...

Cask (gravity) @ The 17th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2011, Reading, Berkshire England.Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, licorice, acidic berry notes. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, burnt, ash - peat - smoke notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110428]
