Orange peel and grapefruit peel aroma. Slightly hazy amber, medium cream colored head, good lacing. Powerfully bitter lemon zest initially. Grapefruit peel reveals itself at midpalate with a lesser degree of bitterness. Very very tinny. Somewhat resinous. Despite the detractors, Starr Hill went all in with the hops. Decent IIPA.

Draft at Churchkey. Clear golden. Nice citrus aroma. Overwhelming bitter taste, too much for my buds to handle.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm's, 5/16/12

Aroma: The nose is hoppy with some pine, citrus fruits, and a little bit of earth
Appearance: Cloudy dark orange color with a thin, fizzy white head and light (and randomly spaced) lace
Flavor: The taste is light sweet, but mostly bitter (particularly in the middle and end palate)
Palate: The body is medium-full, slightly sticky, and has a long lasting dryness on the tongue
Overall Impression: You know what? I have to basically stand by the scores from my first review. I had to lower the aroma score just a touch, but I have been left with what seems like a slightly better overall impression, so the score ends up in the same place.
7/3/7/4/16

Location: Draft at Capital Ale House, 11/26/10

Aroma: The nose has citrus notes, some resin/pine, and a little caramel
Appearance: It pours a clearish orange-copper color with an off-white head
Flavor: Much like the nose, some sweetness, leaning more toward the bitterness
Palate: It has a medium body, fairly soft carbonation, and a somewhat chewy mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Only the 12th rater of this one, I guess it is either fairly new or not well distributed. Anyway, this was a solid, though not spectacular example of the style. I'm a fan of the regular IPA from Starr Hill, so I was expecting them to make a very solid DIPA, and while this is a solid beer, I had hopes of it being a little bit better. Good stuff though, none-the-less.
