From cask at the Forth Inn in Aberfoyle, 1/3 pint. Light golden color, for me this not an IPA.

500ml clear bottle @ Loch Fyne, Shrewsbury. Pours clear gold, white head. Aroma is zesty citrus hop. Taste is smooth and perhaps more flavoursome than anticipated. Nice fruity lemon citrus presence, rather moreish. Better than expected.

A special ale brewed by Belhaven for Teuchters. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - slightly funky but then flowers though some astringent malt. Taste - lemon and flowers. Still slightly astringent malt but not too bad. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - it’s alright but they’ll still be selling the Black Isle version for a good whiletto come.

Draught @ the Mill Bank, Coulter. Pours a golden-orange wih gentle bubbles and a reasonable head. The nose has raisins, malt and a hint of grapefruit. The taste has grapes and then malt. The palate is medium bodied, quite creamy and then the finish is a bit more malt than hops. Overall, this is quite good initially but it is let down by the finish.

Cask at the Old Blackfriars, Aberdeen. Pours clear yellow with a tight, creamy head. Crackers and straw in the nose. Light sweet flavor, straw bitterness, light grass, biscuits and crackers. Light in body with soft, smooth carbonation. Plenty of hay and straw bitters to finish, with modest crackery malt sweetness. I’m surprised by the low rates, as for me this is a perfectly acceptable golden ale.

On tap, somewhere in Cambridge. Golden color with medium white head. Aroma of citrus, pines, caramel. Light taste, with hints of grapefruit, honey, some spices. Watery bitter finish. Little bit bland, but OK.
