The very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing, crisp finish is achieved by dry hopping. The fruity, citrusy aroma is a nice complement with grilled prawns and spicy foods.

(In early 2014 Alaskan re-formulated their IPA as Icy Bay IPA)

Bottle received in trade from BeerKangaroo, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a crystal clear deep golden color with a huge bubbly off white head that persists forever. Aromas of caramel and citrus dominate with hints of mineral to round it out. The flavor is a bit of pine, spice, and citrus with a solid bready caramel to back it up. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous mineral mouthfeel. Nice easy drinker, a bit old school but certainly serviceable.

Bottle. Toffee malt and orange peel/pine aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange-caramel malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel. Light body. Not bad - standard.

Reviewed from notes. She pours a mostly clear light golden yellow color and leaves the same color body with a two finger white foamy head that rises and falls at a moderate pace leaving some foamy clingy lacing in the wake. The aroma has some strong citrus yet also pine up front, mellow malts back all of that up as it warms. The taste has some bitter backings from a hoppy sort of combined maltiness and becomes somewhat sweet as it warms, pine aftertaste, quick dry finish. On the palate, she sits pretty light, pretty sessionable and becomes perhaps a bit more watery than most AIPA’s I’ve had as there seems to be a lack of carbonation for the style. Overall, for the most part, its a decent AIPA, nothing to scream about, if anything it has goin’ for it is the fact that its pretty sessionable.

Nice, crisp, tart IPA. Hazy golden with thick creamy head. Aroma of yellow grapefruit. Taste is citrus hops, and hops linger on the palate. This is a classic IPA , all about the hops.

Pours clear light gold with a tall white head. The aroma is largely pine resin with just a touch of honey malt at the end. The flavor is mildly bitter but doesn’t go much of anywhere from there. A bit washy on the tongue.
