Taster at the brewery. Pours black, with a medium, tan head. The aroma is brandy, coffee, burnt toast, chalk, and cinnamon. Dry, with a roasty bitterness. Heavy body, with a sharp, astringent palate. This is a solid and aggressive stout.

Snifter at the brewery - deep black with a slightly off-white lace - a fair balance of sweet, spicy, toasty, bitter, smoky - flavors of chocolate, dried cherry, vanilla, smoked meat - creamy texture - a nice and balanced rendition, which is a departure from the more common booze and adjunct bombs made these days.
