Short pour at the brewery. Pours a clear, bronze color, with a big, frothy, beige head. The aroma is bitter orange peel, cocoa, strong oak, rye, toffee, and brandy. Sweet and malty, with a mild bitterness. Heavy body, with a sharp, syrupy palate. Lots of warming barrel character. Complex, and tasty!

Tulip at the brewery - medium amber with a substantial frothy head - Brandy and oak are prominent, but not overpowering or particularly boozy - flavors of treacle, sherry, light oxidation - candied fruits, toffee, bread pudding - vanilla, plum - oh yeah, it's good.
