Sample from a shared 2013 bottle. Pours a light, hazy orange, with a small, off-white head. The nose is apple, mellow smoke, caramel, toffee, and toasted oak. Sweet and lightly peated. Medium body, with a silky, thin mouthfeel. This is a complex, yet easy drinking beer. Lovely scotch character, but not much of the base beer shines through.

Sample at the tap room. Hazy orange-gold color with a medium white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, fruit and oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, oak and red fruits. The finish is oaky with a peaty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
