This blood-red ale may not be what you expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Pours clear, dark amber. Medium big, white head. Smell is rather weak. Mild amber malty touch. Taste is full, malty, ambermalts. very mild coffee even. Noticable hoppyness. Decent. Could use more bitter hops though, for a red IPA. Decent american amber, but too weak in terms of hops to be a red IPA.

Tap at iBrew Shinbashi. Dark red brown colour, small thin gold head. Taste is ultra hoppy, cat pee, quite earthy, bit of citrus. Aroma is same ultra hops, overwhelming cat pee. Bit of sweet maltiness there too, but almost totally hidden by hop hit. Bit of a sledgehammer. Not very subtle. Not horrible but not my thing. Brutish. Rerate: Jan 15. Bottle. Light spice, light resin hop. Nowhere near as full on as last time. Taste is malt dominated. Little bit of bitterness, bit more caramel, bit of black treacle. Brown bread. Good stuff. Hugely different score.

From bottle. Amber color. Red fruit and grass in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweetish, caramelly flavor. Hint of metal in the finish.

Blood red body with a lasting white head. Spice and citrus aroma. Lots of malt in the taste with a thick hop skin. Full and long finish

Can 355ml (Beer Republic, no BB)
Nut brown colour, good creamy beige head and lots of lace. Mostly nutty malty aroma. Medium-bodied. Nutty, some caramalt, some fruity hops in the flavour. It has a kind of English strong ale vibe. Probably hoppier when fresh. Ok.

On tap at Stadsbrouwhuis. Amber-brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malts, some berries. Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel, some raisins, hint of berries, light tobacco, bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. Strong Belgian Amber.
