This blood-red ale may not be what you expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Dark color, red mahogany, with mediium sized beige head. Nice aroma, there is some caramel, light hop resins and light red grapes. The body is lean but not weak, fairly dry; it has the expected dark caramel flavor, not oppressive as in other Red Ales though, with a pinch of nuttiness, and immediately overwhelmed by a pretty powerful bitterness, a good amount of hop resins, not much hop fruitiness besides some bitter oranges.
Red IPA is not the best style around, but this one is above the average.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate to light head that settles quickly. Aromas of sweetened grapefruit, dark berries, pine, and brown sugar. Flavors of pine, berries, toasty malts, and bitter citrus. Bitter finish. Smells great - flavors not as much, but still very good overall

22 oz. bottle, pours a dark red with a small off-white head. Nose brings out piney and resinous hops, and light caramel to back. Flavour is well-balanced, with a good balance of piney hops and toasted caramel bready malt to balance. Hoppy and malty in good balance. Really nice.

On draft at Trio in Kill Devill HIlls, NC. Pours a clear brownish amber with an ecru head. Nutty nose. Malty flavors with some roast notes. Smooth, slightly bitter finish.

Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Dark reddy brown pour with a thin off white head. Sweet malts and grapefruit hoppy nose. Flavour had caramel malts in tandem with some citrus sodden hop. Soft and delicate. Spot on bitterness for the style. Lovely beer.

Bottle from ISO in HK. Dark brown pour with fluffy tan head. Aroma is malty and a bit bitter. Taste is very malty nutty with some round hoppy bitterness. Not bad but not great.

650ml bomber from Deguchiya, Tokyo. Poured into a snifter. Beautiful mahogany amber color with a nice eggshell colored head. Caramel, dark buckwheat honey, granola bar, pine needles, grassy aromas present. Well balanced on the palate, sweet and dry finish from the hops. Really nice piney hop taste with sweetness from the malt.

Pours dark copper color with tan head. Toasted malt, citrus, and caramel aromas. Toasted malt and citrus flavor with a touch of sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation.

On tap at Tap East Stratford. clear dark red brown beer. Thin beige head. Some sweetness in the mouth some lime grapefruit hop. Some oxidisation but not much. Bit too much carbonation yet still a little watery in the mouth. Ok. Promises much but not quite delivers on this pouring.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas are pine and resin, bit skunky almost. Taste brings some malt sweetness, citrus bitterness. Medium body, bitter finish. Not bad.
