Tap at MBCC 2017, Red session. Poured a clear black with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, sweet chocolate, vanilla light dry coffee. The flavour is moderate to light sweet with a dry smooth rich light oily, roasty dry ashtray coffee liqourice palate and a frothy mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black with coarse head. Aroma of chocolate sauce and custard. Sweet and artificial with full body and clean, sticky mouthfeel. Candyish cherry brandy chocolate. Simplistic and superficial. Poorly executed with disparate flavours. Resiny finish. Drain pour.

(330ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours black with a pale brown head that’s fine, and fades quickly. Aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla flavouring, quite a confectionery feel overall, fairly light roasted malt, a little coffee, slight liquorice, fairly lightly sweet with a hint of acidity. Flavour is moderately sweet, quite creamy, dark malt, a bit fruity, cacao, vanilla, soft liquorice, oats, caramel, maybe some dark bread. A little hint of alcohol in the finish, pretty dry, soft bitterness like cacao and spent coffee grounds. Lingering dark fruit. Very smooth creamy mouthfeel, soft carb, fairly light bodied for style. Extremely easy to drink for the ABV, well-rounded, but perhaps the flavour concentration could be higher given the strength.

Botella 33 cl VIII cata ratebeer en Cimmeria 12..03..2017. Lote B2 KILO hasta 12..01..2022. (r43).

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, espresso, mocha, cocoa, milk chocolate, some vanilla, chocolate cake, dried fruits, with a mild touch of liquorice. Flavour is quite sweet and moderate to medium roasty bitter. Body is full and a bit creamy with a sticky mouthfeel. Rather on the sweet side, rich and candied, some lovely mocha coffee and chocolate notes in the aroma. Nice one.
