Meet BC. She started with us as a server when Beale’s opened, worked her way up to bartender and now GM. She’s kept our team together throughout the past year, gracefully navigating every new challenge thrown her way. ⁣

This beer was inspired by the troll who emailed us “your manager is bitch” after he was refused service for refusing to wear a mask. We thank him for giving us an opportunity to stand behind BC and the countless other service industry workers who come to work every day with unfailing optimism.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, two to three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, earth, nuts and a good deal of lactose and cream - nice in the nose and fairly light. Medium-bodied; Pretty assertive roasted malt and molasses flavours dominate with a great bit of nuttiness and earthy flavours that bring out a good complexity, while staying light and rustic. Some vanilla and especially toffee sweetness really comes through near the end, with a good balance from the cream. Aftertaste shows a good blend of the flavours with a nice malty profile and a good kick of vanilla, cream and a hint of alcohol that peeks around the corner, but the sweetness balances quite nicely with the roasted malts that do bring out coffee and chocolate near the very end. Overall, a very nice, robust beer that almost shows more of a [sweet] stout, at least in terms of flavours, than a porter, but the body is on level with most Porters, so this hits the marks nicely, and the front of the can perhaps is the best thing about this, with the note on the side that goes along with it making it great, and sad. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 21-July-2021 for US$4,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 17-November-2022.

16oz can. Poured a dark brown color with a small, tan head. Aroma was light brown sugar, nutty, pecan. Chocolatey, nice malt roast. Really went down easy.

Charred oak nose, not strong. Cola black, thin tan head. Brown sugar, smoke, charred oak. Medium body, easy carbonation. Double points for the label and the story behind it. Big ups!
