Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is a bit weird, liquorice and sweetish. Tastes sour, lightly malts, a light touch of herbs or spices. Average body and carbonation. Not good, was this intended? Don’t think so..

Bottle at home from the chesham brewery shop. Very lively pour, mahogany brown / reddy coloured with a huge mid tan head. Quite difficult to get in the glass. Aroma is effervescent, nutty roasted malts with light berry fruit and earthy orange. Flavour is composed of dry chalky roast malts, tangy berry and harsh coffee harsh. Waaaayyy over carbonated to the point that it is painful on the tongue. Finish is big carbonic acid bite and very dry. Apart from that the flavours are pretty good.

Bottle. It pours a reddish dark brown body under a small, dense, light beige head. Roasted aroma with some bonfire and a good dash of dried fruits. Some acidic notes. Dark malts, roasted notes and a malty-sourish touch in the flavor. Full to medium body, dry and with a pleasant carbonation level. Malty-sour roasted aroma with dried fruits and some coffee hints. Pretty decent, but not my kind of stout. 140808

Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Very dark, chestnut brown. Big, bubbly, tan head. Drank this quite cold as I thought it was a BIPA. Not that it mattered, because like other Hardknott beers I’ve had, this is a bit bonkers. Blackcurrant liquorice sweets. Shoe polish (?). Raisins. Taste is dry. Light bitterness. Light, black peppery spiciness. Bit overly carbonated. Dry, light, bitter finish. Very decent. Certainly different.
