Trawlerboys Best Bitter is a full-bodied, copper coloured, premium bitter brewed with English whole cone hops, rich and malty with fruity hopy hop flavours. The pump clip features the Lowestoft-built stern trawler (1978) the Boston Sea Stallion, launched by none other than Mrs Thatcher.

500ml bottle [Thanks to Grumbo for the ship motif!]. Clear, redd-ish, dark amber colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Malty aroma with a touch of toffee, cheap chocolate, strawy-grainy interference, weak fruity hoppy overtones. Taste is slightly fruity hoppy, hints of red berries, minimally nutty, malty background with a touch of toffee; soft carbonation, creamy palate.

Cask @ The New Inn, Colchester. Pours amber with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, light caramel, floral hops, sweet fruit. Flavor is light sweet, malt, light caramel, grass, fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation, light sweet finish. 170217

Cask at the triangle tavern Lowestoft. Mid amber orange coloured pour with a thin fading head. Aroma is really odd, spicy cinnamon and ginger, caramel, brandy snap sugars. Flavor is composed of medium sweet caramel, toffee apple, spicy orange rind, ginger. Interesting beer. Palate is semi sweet, decent cask condition.

Cask at the Anchor, Little Downham. Copper with a large and somewhat loose cream-coloured head. Malty, caramel, hazelnut nose. Taste is sweetish bitter with a hint of sour. Aftertaste has a more pronounced hoppy bitter. Solid in its way but incredibly boring.
