Although it calls itself "International Pale Ale", this delicious and aromatic ale is not hoppy enough to fit the profile. We are US importers of the beer and working with the brewery to rebrand Aurea as "Iberian Golden Ale" - light, bright, superbly aromatic with strong notes of green guava, ripe melon, muscatel grapes with creamy yet prickling effervescence. Delicious Ale but not an APA or an IPA. Available in USA through Shelton Brothers distributors in bottle and keg.

On tap at the Three Tuns, Bristol 10/3/2016. Slightly hazy, and gold in colour, with a thin, white, head and a touch of carbonation. Tropical fruits, some sweetish malts, a touch of floral hop and, decent, bitter, finish. Good.

Another micro brewery from Spain, where the craft beer revolution has been exploding in the past years. Tasted in 5.4% ABV version. "International pale ale" with moussy, off-white, medium thick, lacing head consisting of rather large bubbles, not very stable; colour is a lightly hazy yellow blonde with a suspension of powdery yeast in the ’heart’ of the glass, leading to a cloudy appearance with deposit, but still light and yellowish and therefore still looking attractive. Delicate and quite strong, ethereal aroma of lemon blossom, lime zest, white grape peel, melting butter, ripe starfruit, artisanal cider, freshly toasted bread, acacia honey, lemon balm, peppermint leaves, biscuit, cake and pineapple, even something faintly smoky (cigarette tobacco), very fragrant and refined. Taste is crisp and delicate, with a finely tingling, almost prosecco-like carbonation, dryish, fruity with hints of green kiwi, fresh cucumber, gooseberries and apple peel, all very ’light’ but vivid and elegant; a minerally accent builds a bridge to the middle phase, continuing the crisp fruit sourishness over a lean, light pale malt body, a bit grainy and only very restrainedly sweetish, leading to a delicately hoppy, very floral, fragrant finish with just the right amount of bitterness, not overpowering the light pale male sweetishness; dry finish, a bit yeasty, more so and even ’powdery’ with the deposit, aromatically and lightly bittering hoppy with some of the maltiness subtly creeping through. This is a very elegant, delicate little beer, almost ’feminin’ in its behaviour, with a lovely lemon blossom fragrance to it rather than the sometimes overpowering sweetness of orange or mandarin you’ll find in many other IPAs. I guess its hop profile is strong and aromatic enough to deserve the IPA typification, but it has some traits of APA as well. In any case a subtle, refined summer ale, perfectly fit for a warm Sunday afternoon in July.

Turbia, amarilla clara. Aroma a hierbabuena muy marcado. Poco cuerpo y en boca, aunque el sabor es muy diferente y marcado, se desvanece rápido. Le falta cuerpo. Pero es refrescante y especial. Merece ser probada.
