This traditional Belgian Dubbel Ale is brewed with a wide range of specialty malt including Abbey, Caramunich and Carafa. They invoke aromas and flavors of malty sweetness, dark fruit, caramel and subtle cacao. A Belgian Yeast strain brings it home to round out this at times forgotten albeit complex style.

16 ounce can. Barely transparent mahogany brown color. Small, creamy tan cap. Subtle toasted malt aroma has earthy, dried fruit notes. Flavor follows aroma. Toasted malt, black currants, burnt sugar and dark chocolate. A noticeable lack of sweetness, lack of complexity and a noticeable bitter hop finish seem in contrast to the Dubbel style. Hoping it would be better.

Draft at the brewery, 1/20/23. Dark brown, reddish hue. Raisin, plumb, roast, grains, and a bit of caramel. A little sweet. Pretty good.
