The brewer combines an intense taste profile with great tasting flexibility. The use of toasted spelt malts and the woody touches give it intense flavors of coffee, roasted with a touch of acidity. The brewer worked on the full-bodied flavors of the malts, the aromas and the bitterness of the three hops to obtain a balanced product: a stout with strong and intense flavors and well balanced, without any heaviness.

Almost totally black with a couple of fingers of dense off-white head. Good enough retention and a bit of lacing. A very clean though not very intense aroma shows light roasted malts, milk coffee and a general 'soft' feel, dark/red fruits. Taste is brighter. A soft milky/oatmeal stout base, with gentle roasted malts and a bit of caramel. Nice fruitiness (red fruits). Maybe a hint of liquorice. Medium to high sweet and medium to low bitter, overall surely sweet but not too much. Finishes with a slight, pleasant warming/alcohol feel. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, quite not full enough to be sipped, but nicely silky smooth. Definitely a sweet/belgian kind of stout, and a nice, well-made one.

At Café Botteltje, Ostend. Pours cloudy black with a small, foamy, beige head. The aroma contains coffee (powder), milk chocolate & dark chocolate, roasted malt, barley & spelt, cinnamon (Belgian speculoos), liquor, vanilla & oak. It tastes medium chocolatey & malty sweet and light to medium roasted bitter. The finish is sweetish, yet toasty and woody at the same time. Some subtle, warming alcohol. Full body, slick/oily texture, fizzy to soft carbonation. Great execution of the style - something to be proud of as a Belgian!
