Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Roast and chocolate aroma. Chocolate and toffee flavor with light roast. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate and toffee linger with light licorice.

16 oz can from John, thanks once again, 8/24/22. Dark brown-black, tan head. Dry, roasty and slightly burnt dark coffee dominates the aroma. Touch of smoke as well, but it's mild. Drinks bitter and roasty. Not much sweetness going on here. The booze is well hidden. Classic version of the style.

Sample at the taproom. Brown-black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and hops. The finish is roasty with a smokey malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.
