Blend 4 is a 14.2% Double Barrel-Aged Old Ale. This beer started several years ago as an Old Ale that we aged in Willet Rye Whiskey barrels. After aging for over a year in Rye barrels, we racked a small blend of these barrels into Apple Brandy Sherry casks that had been previously used for the Oloroso Sherry production.
These barrels bring big fruit esters and alcohol flavors from the brandy that blend well with the dark fruit of the Old Ale aged in Rye

500 ml bottle from Kane Direct, 4/26/22. Not sure exactly when it was bottled, but I got it from Kane in Dec '20, so probably some time that autumn. Nice medium brown color with a light brown head. Rich and boozy aroma of whiskey, vanilla, brandy, and dark malts. Tons of boozy goodness here, and definitely has the heat, but it's not overwhelming. Lots of interesting stuff happening that I'm not doing justice with this review, but it's all there. Really nice stuff.
