Imperial Pastry Sweet Tart Ale
Aamras Puri was brewed to celebrate Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, that takes place annually in India. This giant, New Years festival kicks off on the darkest night of the Hindu lunar calendar and extends for 5 days!
Diwali’s root meaning is “rows of lighted lamps,” which are typically displayed outside of homes and businesses to usher in bright beginnings and to symbolize the triumph of light over darkness in the New Year.
Other traditional ways to partake in this fun celebration include decorating your front doorstep with colorful sand designs, wearing your finest silk robes, lighting fireworks, and, of course, sharing good food, drink, and camaraderie with your family, friends, and neighbors!
Aamras, literally translated to “mango juice,” is a sweet Indian dish often accompanied by puri or chapati (Indian breads).
Aamras Puri is an Imperial Pastry Sweet Tart Ale that embodies the sweet mango flavors of aamras complemented by select chaat masala spices.
It was brewed with pilsner and wheat malts, flaked oats, and milk sugar, then hopped lightly in the kettle before being fermented with a special lactic acid producing yeast strain.
.
Post fermentation we conditioned this opaque, yellow-orange brew on an abundance of mango, fresh, local Grown in Monmouth ginger root, candied ginger, yellow chili, and kala namak (Indian black salt).
We get notes of aamras puri, fresh ginger, sweet tart candies, bright Amarillo chili, sugar coated ginger chunks, green cardamom, and sweet mango juice.

Draft at the Source, 11/4/21. Darker orange color, minimal head. Drinks like Mango juice. Similar feel as well. Quite sweet. Not much tartness. Tasty, well made, but too sweet for more then 1 for me personally. 8/4/7/3/16
