The hardest thing to explain on the side of a can is when we alter the traditional process looking to augment rather than supplement. Floresinator exists because Fair Mountain Coffee Roasters brought in Flores Bajawa Ngura beans that offer notes of baker’s chocolate, and hints of licorice that we love in a well-constructed doppelbock. To further this notion, we brewed a proper doppel, subbing out hops with Flores beans. At the beginning of the boil, where hops would temper the malt’s sweetness with a bitter touch, we used raw green beans. At whirlpool, where hops would pull in savory direction, we used ground, dark roast. Finally, for dry additions, where hops would layer fruit, we used medium roasted whole beans. Drink Floresinator because there’s layers in the layers.

16 ounce can from Circus Wines, Beer & Spirits in Red Bank, NJ. Stellar mahogany brown color topped by a moderate frothy tan head. Earthy roasted malt flavor upfront. Obvious coffee notes as well. Sweet roasted malt flavor upfront. Dark brown sugar, coffee and a touch of cocoa powder linger on the palate. Coffee taste becomes more pronounced as the brew warms. Some stickiness on the tongue. Tasty interpretation of the Doppelbock style. Since my favorite beverages are beer and coffee, this one’s a winner for me.

16 oz can from Carton, 2/25/21. Canned 2/17/21. Pours a dark brown color with a thin, fizzy light brown head. No surprise, this one is all about the coffee on the aroma and taste. There's some chocolate and a little nuttiness in there as well, but the coffee is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Pretty delicious, with excellent coffee flavor complexity.
