Hybrid between a Russian Imperial Stout and Oud Bruin.
Opposites attract. This sweet sour marriage combines the viscosity and robustness of a Russian Imperial Stout with the winy delicacy of our flemish red ale. Tasting this beer is like a Sovjet bombardment on your senses that throws you from Moscow to Modena and back, to find balanced somewhere in the middle. The aroma reveals chocolate, raisins and Syrup de Liège, with a sense of port wine. The thick, sweet start creates the expectations of an antitussive that pampers the throat. The tantalizing sourness when you swallow, though, crushes that expectation immediately, so you have to start all over again. Comrades, unite and drink this oil of brotherhood!

Bottle at BBT 6/2023. Dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of balsamic, alcohol, other vinegar, acetic, no IS. Taste is very weird, balsamico, light dark malt. Alcohol is badly evident. Very sour, very balsamic, not beery at at all.

Bottle at BBT 6/2023. Weird combination. Medium body, med-light carbonation. High sweetness, high balsamic sourness, little else in basic taste. Initially I was able to discern some malty flavours etc, but I was not even able to write them down before I was overwhelmed after a few sips. Now I taste almost nothing, just balsamic vinegar, with some chocolatey malty complexity. Not terrible, but not great either - rather interesting than tasty, but whatever, good.

33cl bottle - Pours black with an average sized foamy tan head. The aroma is balsamic, chocolate, roasted malts with some woody notes. A sweet and sour taste, chocolate, balsamic, dark cherry and roasted malt flavours with a woody spice and balsamic finish.

When the bottle says balsamico, don't doubt it. Nice oud bruin / stout hybrid. Sour, of course. Fun. The perfect thing to share but not for the faint of heart.

(Bottle) Pours black with tiny brown head. Awesome aroma of balsamic vinegar and wine and booze. Full bodied, slightly sticky and nicely carbonated. The taste is incredible, very unusual and hard to describe. There’s balsamic, there’s booze, there’s rich sweet malt. They work really well together. The effect is reminiscent of port wine. There are hints of smoke. Now and again it evokes memories of my fathers woodworking workshop and the solvent in the impact adhesive he used for veneering. Awesome.

Darkest brown. Aroma is definitely balsamico red wine raisin cherry malty denseness rose light booze. Taste is strong sweet and sour balsamico with some caramel. Later some very intense mint/toothpaste and a very unforgiving sourness that bombards my senses. Finish of balsamico caramel and toothpaste with harsh sourness and some boozy notes. It started all so well and complex... and then it's almost undrinkable. What a shame. Still not regretting anything.
