Belgian Style - Strong Ale Winter Out of Production|

Grand Cru is our very special Belgian-style dark ale. Imported malts give it a round malty richness, and the fruity complexity and slightly spicy character come from brewing with a proprietary Belgian yeast strain. Don’t let the name fool you; while it may be a special occasion beer, this medium-bodied, elegant incarnation is anything but snobbish.
Suggested food pairings: Roasted chicken with thyme, braised short ribs, oven roasted vegetables, grilled sweet potatoes, roaring 40′s blue cheese, bread pudding.

650ml bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear amber-brown color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell roasty, dark malts, a bit wort, hints of chocolate. Tastes about the same: roasty, dark malts, wort, hint of chocolate and raisin. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Bottle thx to Benzai. Copper to amber brown colour with a decent sized slightly off-white head. Smells slightly smoked and some bacon (only in the beginning), yeast, strong glue, some red fruits, some chocolate. Tastes sweet, slightly malty, raisins, a small amount of coffee and some chocolate. A little bit low on the carbo, medium to full body, silky and oily. Hard to judge this one. I don’t even know for sure whether i like this one or not. I think i do, but i wouldn’t like to drink the whole bottle on my own.

A beautiful reddish brown beer with a big and beige head. Aroma is fruitfull and yeasty, plums, some red berries and strawberries. Taste is dark fruity, yeast, interesting sourness, no alcohol, but it can be feeled, drying herbs in the aftertaste. Smooth, full bodied, but not sticky, again velvety softly beer from Great Divide. Interesting, sour nuance gives unigue touch to otherwise fruitfull and yeasty belgian clone.

65 cl bottle @ home, BBE 03/2012
Aroma is sweet with sugar, caramel, some cherries, raisins and hints of oak. Flavour is really, really sugary with hints of raisins. Way too much sweetness here, could be good after a decade or so.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours an almost clear amber with a beige head. Sweet caramellish nose with some slightly tart notes of overripe fruit. Solid body, heavy caramel, overripe fruit and some warming alcohol. But not overly boozy or yeasty. 240811
