The Duck-Rabbit Amber Ale is a medium bodied beer with a lovely tawny copper/bronze color. The lightest of all our dark ales, this is a great introduction to full flavored beers. This brew emphasizes malt complexity with layered caramel malt flavors. We put a lot of effort into getting The Duck-Rabbit Amber Ale just right and we’re extremely proud of the result. Enjoy!

Pour is a dark red with a white soapy head. Aroma is sugar sweet with some sweet malts. Flavor is mostly roasted malts and some caramel. No hops are present. An ok rep of a MEH style.

WBF-Raleigh. Clear amber body with a small white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet caramel and dark malt flavor.

Bottle from a great trader: Ross! Nose of caramel malts and mild spices; clear amber with a small tan head; Flavor has some coffee mixed with the caramel, with a little bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from ross - medium amber pour with fizzy, soft drink-like head - kind of a doughy and herbal/spicy aroma, suggesting more of a spiced, winter-weather ale - the initial notes of nutmeg and cinnamon in the flavor add to this "spiced ale" feel - spicy and lightly bitter, leading to a cookie and toffee sweetness - thin finish, dominated mostly by a vegetable-like earthiness - unique, but not all that great.

An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is light with notes of berries and caramel. The flavor is sweet and at first with a note of citrusy hops, before notes of caramel and nuts sets in, and then an OK bitter end takes over, to last for a decent time with a slight nutty note.

Bottle. Cherry apple aroma initially that changes to a strong buttery caramel. Deep copper color with small head. Flavor a little hard to place - initially an odd spicy flavor - clove/pepper mix, metal and sour milk or fruit juice thats just started to turn at the finish - I am not a fan of the flavor at all. Don’t think I’ll be drinking this again.

Best before Jan 2006 bottle from Suttree, thanks! Pours very similar to their brown ale, though this is a more cherry-copper-amber color, but the head and carbonation are the same; that is to say, small and rapidly dissipating, with little to no lacing. Sort of a dull-beige color to this one. Aroma shows lightly dry hops, soily, nutty, touch of floral notes, with light crystal malts, a touch of round fruitiness (peaches, nectarines) and a little hint of vanilla or buttercream. Plenty of hard, caramelly sugary malts add enough body but it is just a hard, unwavering crystal malt, with lightly dry, grassy and nutty hops, ultimately. Ends on a dry papery note, rather bland, but there is some caramel flavor lingering from the main body. Heavily filtered, leading to a loose, unsubstantial texture, high carbonation. Medium to medium-light bodied, but otherwise, clean.
