In your hand is a deep, dark look into what profound effect aging in a barrel can have on beer. This is our year aged Imperial American Stout designed specifically for the Catoctin Creek Rye barrels it dwelled in. Pouring pitch black, look for huge notes of roast and chocolate with rye whiskey and vanilla on the nose. Thick and creamy, this balanced, big bodied stout has all the chocolate and roast you can pull from the malt with nuances of caramel, oak, and vanilla from the barrels themselves. It is truly something sophisticated and beautiful to behold.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! Color me skeptical of any beer of a place that was brewing beers without potable water. Black, thin fizzy brown head. Poor retention. Aroma of whiskey, oak, roast, raisin, vanilla. Taste is roast, raisin, chocolate, cherry, vanilla. Hints of whiskey. Medium bodied, low carb, booze well hidden for 12.5%, though it is present. As much as I hate to say it, a good beer.
