Viognier has flourished in the rich soil of Virginia's Piedmont region. In the hands of innovative winemakes like Michael Shaps, this varietal has earned its place as this state's favorite wine grape. We brew Trellis with Shaps' Viognier pomace, the crushed fruit remaining after the grapes have been pressed into wine. The fruit adds flavors of peach and tangerine, a rich, creamy taste, and hints of vanilla with balanced acidity for a lush, full-bodied beer.

Half liter bottle from Wine Warehouse, 11/15/20. Bottled 2/25/20. Waxed and capped. Hazy pale orange, large fizzy tan head, decent retention. Aroma of grape, apricot, funk, oak. Taste is peach skins, apricot, grape, pepper, vegetal notes, mild oak and hints of vanilla. Medium bodied, delicate, high carb, mild lingering tartness. Seems pretty fresh overall. Nice.
