A stronger than average session beer, with a mellow hoppy nose and smooth aftertaste. It has a full toffee like malty palate and has an exceptional appearance in the glass.

Cask pint in the Auctioneer, Blackpool on 8th Sep 2016. Clear amber pour, off-white crown that hung around. Light toffee aroma and flavour with some mild hop bitterness late on. My sweet tooth liked it.

Cask, gravity at Chadlington Beer Festival, Chadlington Village Hall, Oxon, 05-06-10 Pours amber with a white filmy head. This is quite malty and with toffee showing up front its a bit too sweet and uninteresting for me. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Pint shared with Finn. Thin, creamy white head over a clear, dark brown body. Strange aroma of late apples and wet paper. Slightly better in taste with weight on butter caramel. Dry ending and very vague bitterness. A bit unfinished? (cask at Dog & Duck, Soho, London 01.05.2008). 2-3-4-3-8 (Overall 2.0). ReRate: In much better shape at North Western (JDW) in Liverpool 27.01.2020. Pearl white head, bright amber, cling lacing. Malt-fruit smell, mid-sweet. Malt-fruity flavours of caramel malts and ripe lemon. Fair bittersweet finish. Cask shared with Finn.

Sampled cask conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm.
Nut brown. Sweet and rounded, soapy, creamy and caramelly. Medium bodied with notes of coffee. Whipped cream finish with absolutely no bitterness. A fragile subtle beer, but I agree with RichardGretton in that the commercial description is way out of line.
