This rich, dark ale takes BBC’s popular Drayman’s Porter and adds Dean’s Beans organic coffee to the mix, creating an enticing blend of everyone’s favorite beginning and end of day beverages. Robust and aromatic, Coffeehouse Porter is sure to please, no matter what time of day you choose to enjoy it.

Pours a deep dark brown with beautiful deep ruby highlights and a fluffy mocha head that sticks around fora little bit. Smells of roasted grains, lots of coffee, some chocolate. Taste is of chocolate and coffee. Smooth creamy mouthfeel medium to thick body. If there ever was a sessionable coffee porter this would be it. One of my favorites from Berkshire, I’m surprised I’m just reviewing it now.

Thanks to Murchmac. Bottle. Not a terribly robust flavor but easy to drink and enjoyable enough. My drinking partner had previous experience with the beer and remembered it being more flavorful in the past, so this might not have been the best bottle. That said, it certainly wasn’t bad. Pours black with a sorta fizzy head. Pretty much just cold coffee and roasted barley in the nose. Taste hinted at a bit more depth but still not terribly interesting. Mouthfeel was a tad thin.

Bottle. Mild coffe aroma. Black colour. Small light brown head. Good mild coffee flavour. Distinct coffee note, not bitter or unpleasant in any way. Long roasted aftertaste, lots of coffee again. Mild and flavourful.

the scent is roasted malt and espresso. unfiltered and unpasteurized to create full flavors that cannot be duplicated. The taste is very similar with a strong coffee taste. the finish is exactly like he scent. Reminds me of chocolate covered espresso beans.

Big City Allston tulip ($5): Black with quickly dissipating brownish head that manages to leave no lacing. Aroma is mocha latte, frapaccino, and mochacino... semi-sweet chcolate, but there are also hints of milk chocolate. Lots of coffee. Obviously, It is made with it. It’s almsot like a coffee drink that improves upon the original, beign more intense in virtually every way. Upon tasting, there is a huge amount of coffeeish chocolate and chocolately coffee. Bittersweet. Good mouthfeel. A little creamy. Worth trying, although this beer will not be loved by all.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours black with a light tan head that laces nicely. Aroma has strong notes of coffee and is one note and a bit stale. Flavor is similar with a very strong coffee note that dominates the beer.

Brownish black pour. Smells like Columbian coffee. Decadent roasted coffee flavor. One of my personal favorite coffee stouts. Rated 10/13/04 Post rating note: I’ve had batches of this beer that are much sweeter. I’m not sure if it is a recipe change or unintentional. Post rating note 2: I’ve had other bottles that were clearly infected and drain pours. Really inconsistent. I need to re-rate.
