Motown Maibock is a traditional German style lager. This beer is coined after the Motown label that showcased music with a style of soul and a pop appeal. This Maibock is just that its got the soul of a traditional Maibock with a contemporary pop appeal.
Released in the Spring, traditional Maibocks are paler than a bock. Ours is a touch more pale but accented with Vienna malt- think "Imperial Pilsner". Normally brewed with Noble Hops we have used a more contemporary "Noble" style hop- New Zealand Pacifica - A Southern Hemisphere Fruit for a mellow, noble aroma.

Light, Bready, Honey, Malty with a 7% ABV kick.

Dark honey, dinner rolls aroma. Clear copper, thin tan head. Dark honey, dandelion, bread. Medium body, easy carbonation. Either I haven't a heller bock in awhile or this is a throwback to an earlier time. I'm sensing strong nostalgia with this one. Very nicely done.

12 ounce can from Wegman's Charlottesville, 6/8/23. Hazy orange, large tan head, average retention. Aroma of toast, grain, Noble hop. Taste is toast, caramel, butterscotch (a nice way of saying a weird meaty and buttery note that is not actually bad). Noble hops. Crisp, well balanced. Nice, though a bit strange. 3500th Virginia rating!
