Theakston Grouse Beater is our tribute to the many who keep and protect the moors environment ensuring the future for the famous bird and also for the pleasure of many thousands of visitors that come from all over to enjoy the unique beauty of the countryside. Grouse Beater is brewed using Moorland berries to give a deliciously fruity flavour on a subtle but well balanced bitter hop and is ideal either on its own accompanying game or light curry dishes.

Cask @ Counting House, JDW. Clear dark golden colour, white head. Aroma is fruity. Flavour is very, very sweet, bubblegum, blackcurrant. Low carbonated. Sweet and sticky finish. Very weird. Not good.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 11/04/10. A plain weird beer. Fruity, sweet and synthetic - it reminded me of the fruit salad chewing sweets from my childhood. Some tropical and berry fruit notes too, colliding in an odd mix, with sweet caramel and air freshener sweetness. Not an experience I would want to repeat.

Cask served at a perfect drinking temperature at the Theakston Brewery Bar, GBBF 08. Golden body. No head. Dark fruity smell. Taste of strawberries with additional hints of apricot. Watery texture and a very average bitter (half pint shared with Geir, 007.08.2008).

Cask at GBBF. Light amber beer with a lasting white head. Blackcurrant aroma almost to the point of resembling Ribena, with notes of grass and caramel. Ribena also shows up in the sweet flavour with a touch of black tea.

Cask, gravity at The Rock of Gibraltar Beer Festival, Enslow, Oxon, 01-09-07 Copper coloured with the merest hint of haze, served a bit too warm in my opinion, beers were served inside the pub on racks with no effort to keep cool. Bizarre candy like aroma, unfortunately this artificial aroma followed through into the mouth, very strange what on earth are Theakston at with this beer? Tastes of sweets, sasparilla, and just totally bonkers not my thing at all, hideous stuff.

Cask Handpull at Muggletons, JDW, Maidstone. Gold/copper colour with thin bubbly off white head. Very perfumed aroma, rose petals and peach/apricot/nectarine fruit. Fine in mouth with some bitterness. Finish has more fresh stone fruit and hop bitterness. Simply bizarre. Good bitter with peach/apricot and nectarine flavours all over it.
