Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a deep brown color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Slight stringy lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of roasty coffee beans to cocoa powder, some sharp citrusy hops and some dark chocolate.
The flavor reminded me of a black IPA as the bitterness seemed to invade a little bit more than expected for a porter. I didn’t mind, though. Aftertaste was a blend of the roast, dark chocolate and citrusy bitter hops. Finish leaned more towards the roast and hops.
The palate was about medium bodied with a good sipping sort of quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt fine. Not as smooth as other porters, I’ve had.
Overall, I’m assuming that’s what Community Beer Works wanted to do - despite being hoppier than expected, I’d still have this again.

Lots of citrus in this, and most of it overrides the porter elements. Still comes out ok though, but different. Pours brown with ok head and lacing. Cask Days thanks to Jercraigs and Mabel.
