Pours mahogany-tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving trailing lace. Sour chocolate aromas. Smoky, dry chocolate upfront turning sweet in the lasting espresso finish.

Bottle bought in Reykjavik. Black with a small head. Drinkable but both the aroma and taste were weak. Coffee, chocolate, caramel and some smoke. Mild bitterness and not that long aftertaste.

Bottle. A black beer with a small, dense, dark beige head. Roasted, meaty nose with licorice and some coffee. The flavor has roasted malts, coffee, licorice and some chocolate. Full body, and a lasting coffee-like roasted finish with a touch of licorice. A pleasant and surprising stout. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 110330

Bottle, courtesy of saxo. A dark brown beer, seemingly see-through, and topped by a dense, tan head. The aroma has a lot of coffee, as well as chocolate and a touch of prunes. It’s smooth and medium bodied in the mouth, quite sweet in the flavor and with coffee and chocolate. Drying towards the end. A quite decent one, a pity the aroma is so boring. Certainly one of the Icelandic beers I could drink more of. 110416
