Brewed in the style of a mid-19th century English Festival Ale, this unfiltered wheat beer displays a translucent orange color topped with a creamy, white head. Wheat enhances the mouthfeel of the beer and produces pleasant bread-like notes while Michigan honey provides a caramelized sweetness in the flavor profile. This beer is spiced with orange peel and coriander and small amounts of three hop varieties pleasantly counterbalances the sweetness.

Bottle. Quite perfumed, belgian funk, sweet fruity. Cloudy orange, lowish head. Dry body. light body. Peachy aftertaste.

Lightly lazy peach/gold color with a vigorously thick head that dissipates slowly. This actually began overflowing the bottle as soon as I opened it. Thin wisps of lacing. The aroma is mildly malty with a bit of floral hops and fruit. Light-bodied with citrusy hops and wheat flavors. The finish is crisp and fruity with a yeast/wheat aftertaste. Light and straightforward, it’s a decent summer brew.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an apricot color with only a trace of a white head. The aroma is tangy citrus. The flavor is tangy, sour and has a strong citrus note. The beer is rather heavily carbonated. There is a strong alcohol burn which is surprising given the actual alcohol content.

Sweet malty aroma. Orange. Very light banana flavor, as well as heather. I taste no hops at all. Some yeast. A full bodied American wheat, and one of the few worth trying.

Medium hazy golden-orange, with a soft head. Smells wheaty and apricotty. Extra bitter bite- snazzy - slight fruit with a lot of wheat. A decent brew, but nothing mindblowing.

2003 and 2004 bottles. Extra cloudy and even more orange than most wheats. Had a nice moderate sized head that wasnt too bubbly. Aroma was lacking however. Initial taste is crisp and less full (than Oberon, sorry but I couldnt help comparing them). I am definitely tasting a good hops flavor here, especially the hallertau. The yeast is also very apparent here. There is a slightly sweet flavor towards the middle (honey and some malt), with ample lemon and some light coriander. The carbonation in the bottle is almost, but not quite, a problem, as there is more here than in most wheats ive tried. It seems to lessen the body, and is not pleasant. Overall not as much strong wheat/fruit/yeast flavor as Oberon (which I enjoy), but that might be ok for you, if you like a less full bodied wheat a bit more on the hoppy side. Carbonation content needs to be lessened in any case.

Typical on the pour (cloudy yellow-orange), with a hint of orange peel in the aroma. Unfortunately, the flavor was dominated by a bitter tang that luckily subsided as the beer warmed. I'll work this into the "palate" rating instead of docking the flavor, which finished smooth and strong. Whitsun seems like a hybrid witbier/American Wheat.
