A black IPA, Conqueror is a rich, complex and very distinctive ale. It is brewed with a careful blend of 5 speciality malts along with Summit and Cascade hops to produce an intense combination of roasted flavours balanced with full fresh pine hop aroma.

Cask at the Willow Walk. It pours dark ruby with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, light smoke, coffee and some acidity. The taste is rich roast, piney bitterness, toast, coffee, cocoa, liquorice, mild acidity, pepper, grapefruit rind and ash with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Well rounded and rather drinkable. Nice.

Poured by gravity @ NERAX North cask festival. 11/16/2013 Haverhill, MA. Pitch black with some tan head. This brew has a large Cascade hop influence. Nose is light chocolate with big pine and light citrus hops. A nice marriage of roasted malts and pine hops. Resinous hops lingering for a few seconds after the sip leading to a dry finish. This is the best English beer I sampled at this festival. Well-made and tasty.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. PIney hop aroma. Taste is dry, piney hoppy, dry dark malty, hints of coniferes, a herbal touch. Nice, hop-dominated Black IPA with not more than a somehow neutral, at least hop-supplementing or -exposing malt basis.

50cl bottle, bb 11 Dec 13. Dark brown with a thin but lasting beige head. Weird aroma of smoke, roasted malt, wet mould, mild hops. Flavor has roasted malt, mild chocolate notes and hops. Dry, bitter hoppy finish. Aroma is better as the beer gets warmer. Barely ok.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks troubles. Dark brown. Aroma of some roastiness, a bit of smoked meat notes and some hops, slightly stale. Sweetish flavor, roasty and a bit of smoky with some bitter hops, a bit grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Opaque black beer, tiny tan head. A little pine hop and roasty malt on the nose. Crispy palate, slightly dry. Minerals. Piney hops. Decent malt base with a whisper of roast and a trace of chocolate. Semi dry finish. Solid.

On tap at Bree Louise with Sarah. Pours a clear dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice note of light roast and dark grain that works well some bitter pine. Flavor begins with dark grains and light roast but has a nice pine note to round of the beer with some bitterness. Smooth throughout.

On Cask at the Horse and Groom in Windsor (Dec ’11). Dark Brown to Black in appearance. Very hoppy for a 5% beer, tan flavours, slightly burnt, very mild smoke going on, verging on a burnt nut/oil combo. Great tasting beer and a great first effort at a black IPA from a small English brewer. I immediately followed up with a 2nd pint - it made me want to go back for more!
