A black IPA, Conqueror is a rich, complex and very distinctive ale. It is brewed with a careful blend of 5 speciality malts along with Summit and Cascade hops to produce an intense combination of roasted flavours balanced with full fresh pine hop aroma.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a reddish dark brown with a small white head. Very fresh and citrusy hop aroma atop a slight roastiness. Medium body, hard roast even with a smoky touch. Fairly malt bitter finish. A solid offering if the roastiness is a bit rough. 130711

Big beige head. Deep dark red body with strong carbonation. Roasty tropical fruit aroma with earthy minty coffee notes. Dry roasty dusty earthy taste with a background of tropical fruit and wild berries. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dry resiny tropical fruit aftertaste with burnt metallic notes. Buttery minty finish. It’s perfectly OK, but not really great. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com.)

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 May 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Roasted, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, liquorice, dark bread and fresh hops. Roasted, malty, hoppy taste with liquorice, pine needles, grapefruit, ashes, black coffee and a generous piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, fairly sweet. Really enjoyable, with a little more body and alcohol, this would be brilliant. Still, very nice.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a coarse bubbly tan head. Aroma of pine over chocolate. Smells better than the words imply. Med body. Evergreen and chocolate. Bit chalky. Goes a little coffee/chocolate. I think. Finishes fairly dry and mildly bitter. Drinks well.
