Molasses and coffee nose, moderate strength. Ruby black, thick tan head, nice lacing. Suprisingly dry and chalky. Creosote, charcoal. Light body, moderate carbonation. Bone dry, like colored, bitter seltzer. Maybe it’s just too old.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black color. Small creamy beige head. Smoky roasted malt aroma. Notes of tobacco and charred wood. Dryish finish. Average at best.

$1.90 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours very dark with an inch of beige head. Smells of coffee and chocolate. Tastes of heavy cold coffee, light chocolate. Iced coffee taste more than chocolate.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a dark brown color with a huge fizzy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of strong coffee, and not good coffee. Burnt coffee grounds, chocolate, cocoa, burnt roast. Oof. The taste is bitter, harsh roast coffee, some chocolate, mild honey. Medium bodied, lingering harsh bitterness. What’s with the disappointing beers tonight? Think I might be able to actually finish this one.
