50cl bottle. Pours amber to copper with steady bubbles and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has toffee, biscuits and a grassy/herby note. The taste has ginger biscuits and toffee. The palate is medium in structure and texture with a tangy and fairly refreshing finish. Overall, a decemt ale which I would describe as a bitter rather than an amber ale.

Cask-conditioned at the Halfway House, Edinburgh 7/06/2011. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, fruity aroma with a touch of leafy hop. Flavour had some caramel, hedgerow fruits and biscuity malts, leading to a bitter finish. Fine.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a clear, golden body with a white head. The aroma has a pleasant hoppyness, but also a buttery caramel touch. It’s dominated by the hops in the mouth, pleasant bitterness and a decent hop flavor, but I would like it less buttery. Medium body, nice carbonation. Overall, too much butterscotch, but a quite pleasant one. 110318

Cask at the Halfway House, Edinburgh, 20-03-09 on Craig’s crawl of Edinburgh’s finest establishments. Pours mid gold with a white head. There is a good dollop of honey on the nose and in the mouth, some sweet malts add to the mix and its a nice beer all told. A6 A4 F7 P4 OV14 3.5
