Old Trails, New Song – ESTATE Wheat Wine Ale 12.5% // 50% Estate grain, 70% Regional grain (Collaboration with Crooked Run Brewery)

Bold, resolute, nuanced. This estate wheat wine ale reflects an intense character expression of the grain grown at Wheatland Spring. Old Trails, New Song is a layered sipper, brimming with aromas of caramel, deep toffee, fig and dates. An extended boil 5+ hours brought forward depth and complexity further aided by maturation in French oak puncheons.

$12.15 500ml bottle from WW. Yes, I overpaid, but it's a new VA brewery tick and it sounds good. Pours murky brown with a small beige head. Nose is fig, purple grape, butter, caramel. Flavor is fig, caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, bread crust, butterscotch. Booze isn't hidden. Overpaid by quite a bit, but it's not bad.
