Launched and enthusiastically received at the first annual Halifax Seaport Beer Fest in August 2007, this ale has quickly become known as the hoppiest beer in Atlantic Canada! Imperial Pale Ale is a robust, medium bodied west coast style ale with a lingering hop bitterness complimented by a malty caramel backbone and a strong citrus character. This beer is for the true hophead!
Appeared on cask dry hopped with Comet Hops as Comet IIPA.

Bottle, courtesy of Enjoyit. It pours a hazy, orange-golden body with a small, off-white head. A bit weak on the nose, slightly perfumed, and with pinecones and citrus peel. Malty sugars too. Itβs full-bodied and slightly warming, pleasantly carbonated. The flavor has a good bitterness, resins and grapefruit. Bitter finish with an almost balancing sweetness. A quite nice one, the aroma a bit weak though. 110129

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy opaque dark amber orange with about an inch of head. Aroma is quite piney hop forward, with spruce, citrus, grapefruit and caramel malts to back. Flavour brings out piney and citrus hops, though it's harsh (not in bitterness but in flavour), with little malt backing - metallic notes on the finish along with the bitterness. Seems like it needs refining or something... It gets more and more offensive the more you drink. Quite poor, really.

Bottle @ Ulfborg Weekend, Jan 2011. Pours unclear amber with a small creamy white head. Nose is pine and grapefruit. Bitter and a bit rough hoppy flavor. Lots of pine and grapefruit. Really dry and bitter:-). Medium and smooth body. Bitterness lasts throughout . . .BOOM.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Enjoyit. Pours a hazy deep amber with a creamy off-white head. Sweet overripe fruit and caramel in the nose. Medium body, sweet caramel and fruit at first but then quite some dusty hops leaving a massive bitterness. 290111

Bought this one in Edmonston, N.B. when I was on tour with my band (summer of 2009 - sampled February 2010). Last one from these. Written on front label that beer was bottled APR 06 2009. Pours a deep amber-orange colour (on the hazy side) with lots of little particles floating all-around (as this one says unfiltered). Beige cap with good retention and loads of lacing. Aromas are complex with the hop (which was assumed), nuts, caramel malt, citrus, pine and some fruits. Creamy and velvet mouthfeel. Very nice bitterness in the taste that stays a long time into the aftertaste. Notes of smoke in the finish, grapefruit and sweet malt. Very well-balanced imperial IPA which I wish I could get here.

500 mL bottle brought back by one of my bosses. Thanks David! Pours a hazy reddish bronze color with a thin head. Interesting aroma with lots of citrus and candied citrus notes. Lots of toffee as well. Bitter hoppy taste with lots of citrus, resin and herbal notes. Slight toffee malts. Slightly off balance. Medium bodied. Good beer.
